- “We are devastated by Coy Gibbs’ terrible passing. Joe, Pat, Heather, the Gibbs family, and everyone at Joe Gibbs Racing have my sincere condolences on the passing of Coy, a genuine friend, and racer, on behalf of the France family and all of NASCAR, said Jim France, chairman, and CEO of NASCAR.

J.D. was distinct because he embraced everyone. “J.D. was my dad,” I said, Coy. He was my dad when I joined the series, so losing him affects the culture, and we must regain it.
