Tragic, Eliza fletcher was found dead near East Person Avenue and Victor Street, according to the affidavit. Based on information gathered by the FBI shortly after 5 o’clock.

- Nearby law officers from several agencies searched the area. Shortly after 6 o’clock, detectives discovered a garbage bag about 100 feet north of the house on S. Orleans Street, where earlier reports claimed Cleotha Abston had been with his brother.
- The suspect’s car was caught on camera leaving I-240 at the South Parkway East exit by a camera situated in the 1300 block of Cummings Street.
- Shortly later, the suspect’s car was seen on the CCTV at Kerr Avenue and Clancy Street, moving westbound on Kerr Avenue.
- Next, the vehicle makes a southwest turn onto Havanna Street.
- The automobile turned south on Marjorie Street from the 1600 block of Havanna Street on camera.
- The vehicle then turned onto Person Avenue, heading west.
- The victim was declared dead when a West Tennessee Regional Forensics Center medical examiner arrived.
Fletcher Was Positively Recognized as the Woman!
According to MPD, the suspect, Cleotha Abston, is now also charged with first-degree murder and first-degree murder in the commission of abduction.
Cleotha Abston informed the judge during his initial court appearance that he was unable to pay his $500,000 bond and could not afford legal representation.
