1. Liam Neeson
- Natasha Richardson, a Tony-winning actress, and Liam Neeson’s long-term spouse, unfortunately, passed away in March 2009 from brain injuries sustained while skiing.
- Neeson, who wed Richardson in 1994, acknowledged he is still in mourning during an interview with CBS’ 60 Minutes in 2014. She was never truly dead, he declared.
- “Still, it’s not really. Especially during the first few years, there are still times when I hear the door opening in our New York home, and whenever I do, I still believe I will hear her.”
2. Stanley Tucci
In 2009, Stanley Tucci, an Oscar-nominated actor, lost his 14-year-old wife Kate to breast cancer.
- Two years after Kate’s passing, Tucci started seeing Felicity Blunt, the sister of his Devil Wears Prada (2006) co-star Emily Blunt, and finally, they got married.
- Tucci said to the Times in 2015 that he still feels bad about dating so soon after Kate’s passing, even though they are still happily married.
- “At first, it was quite difficult to travel, especially while traveling with Felicity. I felt remorse. It is awful. You constantly feel bad.”
3. Martin Short
- Actress Nancy Dolma, the wife of comedian Martin Short for 30 years, passed away from ovarian cancer in 2010.
- Despite the tragic loss, Short acknowledged that he still speaks to his late wife regularly in his 2014 biography, I Must Say: My Life as a Humble Comedy Legend.
- In their 36 years together, they got to know each other so well that he could “convincingly play out the talks we would be having today.”
4. Joan Rivers
- Cassandra Brosnan, the actor Pierce Brosnan’s first wife, passed away in 1991 after a protracted and grueling fight with ovarian cancer.
- Onstage at the Stand Up To Cancer telethon in 2014, Brosnan honestly discussed the agony of losing his wife.
- In front of a live audience of millions, Brosnan acknowledged, “Watching someone you love to have his or her life eaten away piece by bit by this insidious disease, that type of anguish becomes an ingrained part of your brain.”
- As my first wife Cassie passed away from ovarian cancer much too soon, I grasped her kind, strong, and gorgeous hand. The American journalist Keely Shaye Smith was the bride of Brosnan, who wed her ten years after Cassandra passed away. Dylan and Paris are their two sons together.
